STEP 1. Measure your dowel rod 12”, mark.

STEP 2. Score the dowel with scissors, slowly, making the cut deeper as you move around the rod.

STEP 3. Placing your thumbs near the score mark, break the rod gently. If the score was deep enough, it should be a fairly clean break.

STEP 4. Using a sanding block, sand down any rough edges.

STEP 5. Decorate your stick! We painted using acrylic paints but you can use stickers, tape, etc.

STEP 6. Choose a pipe cleaner and secure it to the stick by wrapping it once and twisting it together. Thread 1 jingle bell onto the pipe cleaner and begin wrapping around the stick as tightly as possible.

STEP 7. At the end of the 1st pipe cleaner, add a second jingle bell. Choose another pipe cleaner, match the ends, twist together and begin wrapping again. Make sure you tuck the twisted ends under the wrap so they don’t poke the player!

Step 8. When you’re almost at the end of wrapping your second pipe cleaner, add the 3rd bell. Wrap one or two more times around and secure the end by tucking the end under the wrap. At this point, you can glue the ends in place if you want it more secure.
