Each week we will explore a different theme through stories, crafts, music, movement, experiments, and sensory activities. A snack will be provided during the class, along with opportunities to play and explore both inside and outside of the Murphy Music Center.

NEW! Enhanced extended days!

Last year was our first time offering the extended day option. While we think we did a GREAT job, we saw opportunities to stimulate the kiddos by offering different activities in the afternoon. Introducing, the PLAN (mwuhahaha…)

Week 1 June 17-21 Curious Creatures & Critters

From Dinosaurs to Axolotl’s,  this week we will learn about the curious creatures that have lived on our planet in the past, and ones that still walk the Earth.  Did you know Axolotls are from Mexico or that a dumbo octopus has fins that look like large ears?  Did you know that Velociraptors weren’t much larger than a turkey and that the biggest dinosaurs in the world were the Titanosaurs?  Come learn more fun facts like these as we explore the worlds most curious, interesting and unusual creatures.

Week 2 June 24-28 How Does Your Garden Grow?

Mary, Mary quite contrary, how does your garden grow?  This week we will learn about what makes a garden grow as we plant our own seeds and grow flowers and other fun things.  We’ll dig in the dirt, learn about the process of photosynthesis, and discover different types of bugs that help our food and flowers grow through crafts, books, and music.

Week 3 July 1-5 Culinary Creations *

Taste the rainbow and create delicious culinary creations this week at camp.  From fruit kabobs to cupcake decorating, this tasty week at camp is sure to please your budding chef.  We’ll be making a variety of healthy and fun snacks that your child will enjoy creating and eating. Bon Appetit!

Week 4 July 8-12 Mighty Monets

Did you know Claude Monet started out by drawing caricatures of his teachers and friends?  Join us this week as we learn other fun facts about different artists like Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, and George Seurat.  Put on your smock, fill up your palette, and come paint a self-portrait like Frida Kahalo and sculpt like Michelangelo.  Let’s paint, draw, sculpt, and find our own creative style!

Week 5 July 15-19 Superhero Academy

What is your superhero name?  What are your superpowers?  Let’s explore these ideas and more while we complete our superhero academy adventures.  This week we will be creating superhero costumes, completing our superhero academy obstacle course, drawing our own superhero comics, solving puzzles, and saving the day!

Week 6 July 22-26 Mighty Mozart Music Makers

Did you know that Mozart composed his first piece of music at five years old?  Join us for a week of music exploration as we play, design, and explore different instruments and musical genres.  We will spend the week singing, dancing, and creating music together while exploring different composers and styles of music.

Week 7 July 29-Aug 2 Camping Adventures

Let’s put up our tent, gaze at the stars, and eat s’mores!  Can you identify animal tracks, name the constellations in the sky, and identify different birds and their sounds?  This week we will learn about all of this and more with crafts, scavenger hunts, games, and outdoor fun! 

Week 8 Aug 5-9 Mad Scientists

We are Mad for Science this summer and can’t wait to see what we can create in our lab this week!  Put on your lab coat and goggles, dig out your magnifying glasses, and let's have a learning adventure.  What happens when you mix baking soda and vinegar?  How do you make slime?  How close are we to the sun?  How do our lungs work?  Why does the moon always look different in the sky?  Let’s find out the answers to all these questions and more in our Mad Scientist lab this week at camp!

Week 9 Aug 12-16 Land of Make-Believe

This week we will enter the magical world of unicorns, fairies, and loveable monsters! Let’s sail the seas on our pirate ship and see what treasures lie beneath the ocean waves.  Perhaps we will meet a mermaid, or find buried treasure?  Bring your imagination and join us for a magical array of crafts, games, stories, music, and movement!

Week 10 Aug 19-23 Aloha to Summer

In Hawaii, Aloha means hello and goodbye.  We will be saying goodbye to a wonderful summer of fun and adventure with crafts, music, movement, and fun!  We will end the week with a fabulous luau celebration!

Cost per week: $200 | extended day: $130

Children can pick and choose which week they want to attend, or attend all 10 weeks of camp.

Discounted rates are available for siblings, and for families registered for 3 or more weeks before April 1st.

Hello! My name is Julia Barcalow and I am extremely happy to be a part of the Murphy Music Center team. I have been working in education for over 20 years. I have a passion for educating children with fun, creative, hands-on experiences that give them a chance to express themselves while learning something new. I plan on bringing my experience in musical theater and my experience as a teacher to the Learning Adventures Summer Camp.
